4/29 Final Blog Post and PITCH Creation

Welcome to your LAST MONTH of school!!

Objective: Write your FINAL SIP blog reflection, and Create a "pitch".

Bellwork: Write down the objective.

Classwork/Assignments & Activities

A.   Complete a PITCH for your SIP:
PITCH DIRECTIONS:
An elevator pitch is so named because it assumes that you are on an elevator and you discover that the person next to you is the one person who can help you to publish your SIP. You have only that elevator ride to pitch your idea in order to obtain their aid. For this class, we will assume that the ride is only one minute long. Once that door opens, your chance to get help is over.

You have the freedom to organize your pitch in a way that makes the best sense for your topic. Your video pitch should:
1.  engage your viewers with use of appropriate language, facial expression, and body language
2. present your idea in a professional, well-prepared manner,
3.  be under one minute in length,
4. address the same 4 of the 6 ideas that will appear in your written proposal (only in a more succinct form)

Written proposal 4:

1) Description of the Book. Include background information on the subject, details on the particular approach you intend to take toward the subject, approximate estimated length of the book (in words), and anticipated special features such as photos, illustrations, sidebars, tables, charts, checklists or other elements. Let us know how much time you will require to complete a full manuscript.

2) Market Overview. Describe who will buy this book and why.

3) Competition for Your Book. List other available books that the reader for your book might purchase as an alternative. Describe how your book will offer the more appealing alternative.

4) Your Author Credentials. Provide a brief bio, including education or experience in the subject, writing experience, and previous publications. Let us know of your availability and/or willingness to participate in promotion and publicity efforts, and any special media contacts or promotion opportunities you bring to the project.
